spotty brolly

EDM challenge #40 Draw something with folds. I couldn't decide which one to post so I posted both.

In the UK you have to carry an umbrella with you at all times. It is the law.

Hahaha! Andrea, i used to live in Brussels and i think the law applies there too! Oh, these two are cute and really well executed. It looks like the same, flipped and with more cross-hatching. Correct?
And as to which colored pencils i use: Prismacolor -- and they are sold individually. The lady at the store promised they were the softest they had (i needed the equivalent of my 2B pencils). What kind do you usually use for your amazing coloring?

In the second one I love the way you've done the shading: the uniform lines going in different directions in each section. Very original and stylish! I may have to steal it... :)

So, more teething troubles wih Blogger! It says that I have '0 comments' even though I clearly do have some?? Any ideas anyone, please.

France, this is the same picture. I often overwork my stuff and sometimes wish that I had stopped earlier on in the drawing process. So, I've decided to scan it before adding the colour or, in this case, the cross hatching.

Also, I thought that your colour pencils looked really soft. I actually did not know that you can get them in the equivalent to grahite pencils. Mine are Karisma pencils which have since been discontinued! Always the way eh? I'm not too happy with them anyway. They are quite waxy.

Clarice - you did it, left me a comment (well two in fact!). Thanks gorgeous.

Thank you Andrea, I was pleased with how the cross hatching worked out. Well, I'm off to see if I can find out whats happened with Blogger this time!

It is good-looking.
I like this work.
Does a portable umbrella express the season of Britain?

Thanks guys.
Suzanne - or anyone else who is with Blogger - have you been having any problems? It's all gone a bit crazy!
Clearmark - a portable umbrella absolutley expresses the season of Britain like no other object ever could!! Cheers all.

I really enjoy the strong sense of design in seeing these two together. They're beautifully and skillfully drawn and are quite powerful as well as charming. Here in the S.F. Bay Area of California, we have to always carry a sweater, but not an umbrella except in the winter. It rarely rains here from May through October.

If I had to make a choice, I'd carry both. Beautiful work. And they're mandatory in Florida too. Only 5 minutes after the sky opens and you feel like the flood is coming, you're at the beach working on your tan.
